Back to the future

Wouldn’t it be great if we could go back in time? I know that most people would want to travel in future, but hey the way I see it, at least by going back I can become history. Anyway enough of philosophy, let’s talk about the car that created history by becoming history. It was used in the epic Back to the Future trilogy starring the great Michael J. Fox. I’m talking about the iconic (although terrible looking IMO) 1982 DeLeorean DMC-12. Thankfully it was the only model the company ever produced. But despite its questionable looks, the car did feature gull-wing doors with fiberglass underbody with stainless steel panels; thus it became the modified time machine.

The initial prototype was introduced in 1976 but production began in 1981. The PRV engines were dubbed over with recorded V8 sounds (cause you know they couldn’t afford to install real V8 engines, budget restraints). Also the chassis were used to during production. However though the films were largely successful and hugely entertaining, unfortunately the most of the cars used in the film were smashed to pieces. It was amazing in those days how a car would gradually accelerate to 100MPH and with the technology which the professor created, it would actually travel back in time with Marty in the car and land in 1955; it’s terrific. Having said that though, it should be noted that the car during all 3 films was at times considerably damaged but somehow miraculously it just kept going and going. I’d also say that one of the funniest moment of the car was when Marty travelled back in 1895 and the cowboys started to chase him in their horses.
Always that’s enough stupidity for one day.

Personally I am not a huge fan for this car mainly for its specs and also the exterior design, looks very questionable. Although on the plus side I do like the interior design, especially the seat positioning and extended room for all passengers. But I’d say the greatest aspect about this car is the manner in which the doors slide open from below, that’s quite hip even for today’s standards. Also finally what really didn’t make sense is that a low-end specified car could possibly be turned into a time-machine. Well I guess that’s what movies are for, aren’t they
