Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift: Mazda RX-7 Fortune

The original FD RX-7 (pictured below) featured a 1.3L Twin Rotary engine and a sequential twin turbocharged system. This was the first ever mass produced twin turbo vehicle to be exported from Japan. Handling in the FD was at the time regarded as world class, and is still considered as one of the finest handling and balanced vehicles of all time. The compact and lightweight Wankel engine (rotary engine) is situated slightly behind the front axle, a configuration marketed by Mazda as "front mid-engine". The sequential twin turbocharged system was composed of two turbochargers, one to provide boost at low RPM. The second unit was on standby until the upper half of the rpm range during full throttle acceleration.

This RX-7 was featured in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, it spotted a bodykit made by well known aftermarket company Veilside, and was dubbed "Fortune". The most significant change form the original RX-7 was colour and body. Fast and Furious decided on an orange and black paint job. Despite this, in terms of engine modifications, it was left pretty much stock.

Han drove a Mazda RX-7 in Tokyo Drift. This car is first seen when Sean exits his school and Han is waiting for him outside. The car is seen numerous times after this when Han drives Sean around and when he teaches Sean how to drift. This car is last seen when DK and Morimoto chase Han (for skimming money from DK'S uncle's business), Neela (for leaving DK), and Sean (for taking Neela away from DK) through Downtown Tokyo and the Shibuya District. Han keeps ahead of Sean, DK, and Morimoto for most of the chase, but slows down to stop DK from ramming Sean's EVO VIII. DK manages to drive backwards in front of Han and shoots his windshield. Han pushes DK out of the way and prepares to shift when a car T-bones him and carries him for a little ways. The car lands on its roof and blows up before Han has a chance to escape, killing him instantly.
